A Rainy-Day Pub Visit in Partick, Glasgow

A wet forecast does not need to complicate a visit to Partick. Deoch an Dorus is a traditional pub on Dumbarton Road, a few minutes from Partick station, with freshly prepared food and a wide drinks selection.

Plan around the kitchen times and your journey, then choose a seat from what is available when you arrive. The pub is walk-in only.

Keep the journey straightforward

If you are arriving by train, subway or bus, start with our Partick station and directions guide. Check the transport operator for service updates and use the map for the final walk to 427-429 Dumbarton Road.

If the weather is poor, keep any longer outdoor walk optional. Allow enough time to reach the pub without rushing and check your return service before staying late.

Food on a wet afternoon

The food menu lists freshly prepared pub dishes, including soup, fish and chips, burgers and fajitas. On Sundays, the current menu lists a two-course roast for £16.95. Check the menu for current prices and availability.

Pub hours are 11am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday, and 11am to midnight Friday and Saturday. Main food service is noon to 8pm Monday to Saturday and noon to 6pm Sunday. See opening and food service times.

Choose the atmosphere that suits you

For conversation, ask the team about the available seating and any sport being shown. Weather alone does not tell you how busy the pub will be, and a quiet corner cannot be guaranteed.

The quieter visit guide and seating guide explain what to consider. Browse the drinks menu if you want to compare beers, wine, spirits or alcohol-free bottled options.

The outdoor area

The pub has a covered, heated outdoor smoking area. Ask about suitable seating when you arrive. If you prefer to avoid smoking, discuss an indoor seat with the team.

Rainy-day questions

Can I bring children or a pet dog?

No. Deoch an Dorus is adults 18+ only at all times, and pet dogs are not permitted.

Can I book a table to be sure of a seat?

No. The pub does not take table bookings. Seating is subject to availability when you arrive.

Main food service ends at 8pm Monday to Saturday and 6pm Sunday. Pub closing times are later than kitchen service times.
